WEBSITE/APP BLOCKERS

The Best App/Website Blockers

A Physical Barrier Between You And The Internet

The Best App+Website Blockers

1. FocusMe

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND TRY
Compatible with:
Mac, Windows, Android (They are working on a IOS app to come during 2018)
Price: 29 dollars/year (99$ forever). 60 day-money back guarentee.
Free version: Free trial for the whole package. Free app version.
Short Review: This is the best solution I’ve found that works for me. If you’re looking for one and the same program you should try this first.

2. Freedom

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND TRY
Compatible with:
Mac, Windows, IOS + offers Offtime PRO for Android included in the price
Price: 29 dollars/year (129$ forever) 60 day-money back guarentee.
Free version: No. Only free trial.
Short Review: The most well used software in this nische. Freedom have somehow nestled into (bought) several other services like ”Stayfocusd” and ”Anti Social”. I’ve had trouble with freedom not blocking my websites as scheduled, which seems to be a problem. They admit on their website FAQ that there are some issues that can’t yet be dealt with. Try and if it works seemlessly; great. Otherwise; use the money back guarentee.

3. Rescue Time

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND TRY
Compatible with:
 Mac, Windows, Android, Linux.
Price: 9 dollars/month. 72 dollars/year
Free version: Yes! Both app and website.
Short Review: Most expensive app and website blocker. It provides quite comprehensive ”reports” on how you work every week which I find interesting. It’s something for the geeks who prefers to know everything about how they perform during the day. I currently use their free version to get some reports from my computer.

The Best Free Website Blocker

1. Stayfocusd

Compatible with: Google Chrome Browser (extension)
Short Review: I love this add-on. It is a bit shady looking but if you want a free website blocker and use Google Chrome Browser – GET IT.

The Best Free App Blocker

1. FocusMe Free Version

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND TRY
Compatible with:
Mac, Windows, Android (They are working on a IOS app to come during 2018)
Short Review: Unfortunately many experience troubles with the free app. I really recommend you pay for Offtime or one of the website+app blocker platforms.

The Best App Blocker (IOS+Android)

Offtime

Compatible with: Android, IOS
Price: 33 $
Google Play Review: 4/5 (14 500 reviews)
Free version: Yes
Short Review: I’m currently using the PRO version of this app and I am very satisfied. It has several modes for blocking specific apps or everything, and I mean everything with calls and messages. Which I prefer – so that I don’t touch my phone at all. The app automatically sends an automatic response to people trying to reach you during your ”Offtime” and the app shows you funny notifications if you try to open something that is blocked. You can ”unlock” blocket apps if your willing to wait 60 seconds, and then it asks once again if you really want to.

More Website Blockers

Cold Turkey

Compatible with:
 Mac, Windows.
Price: 25 $
Free version: Yes! (But without schedule function unfortunately)
Short Review: If you don’t want to use Chrome for some reason (Safari or Firefox?) this could be a good fit.

SelfControl

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND TRY
Compatible with:
 Mac
Price: Free
Free version: Free
Short Review: Haven’t tried this yet. But it’s free so how bad could it be?

Anti-Social

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND TRY
Compatible with:
 Mac, Windows
Price: 15-20 dollars. 60 day-money back guarentee.
Free version: ”AntiSocial” is a free app that seems to have nothing to do with Anti-Social”
Short Review: If you only want to block websites. This could be an alternative because the price is lower than freedom and FocusMe. But the website looks quite scammy and there is basically no information about this service.

KeepMeOut

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND TRY
Compatible with:
 All browsers (uses bookmarks)
Price: Free
Free version: Free
Short Review: Don’t really block websites, but warns you when you go to certain websites you bookmarked.

Leechblock

Compatible with: Firefox (add-on)
Price: Free
Free version: Free
Short Review: Works like stayfocusd. Block websites for a certain time or schedule a session.

App Blockers

SPACE (Prev. BreakFree)

Compatible with: Android, IOS
Price: Free
Google Play Review: 4,2/5 (20 000 reviews)
Free version: Yes. No Ads.
Short Review: Extremely well designed and functioning app. No wonder 20 000 reviews on Google Play. It works only allows you to use your phone for a certain amount of time and ”unlocks” per day. So it doesn’t work for scheduling offline sessions.

How To Use The Freedom App

Go to freedom.to by clicking on this text-link and sign up for one of their subscriptions.

When you have an account, you will find this window named “Sessions” at your home screen.

Click the green text that says “Recurring session” at the top of the window.

When you have clicked the button “Recurring session” a new set of settings will appear.

Name your session “12:12-Routine”

Set the time for “Start” to 08:00 pm and time for “End” 08:00 am.

Check the boxes for which days you want to wake up without anxiety. I recommend that you have this Freedom Session at least between sunday-thursday night. But I have it every night.

Below, check the box with the text “Block All Websites” and select all of your devices (since I have an android smartphone and tablet I use the app OFFTIME for those, which you get for free when signing up to the Freedom App, and they work just as fine).

Click “Save” to add this 12:12 routine to your schedule.
